Management Plan
For all EC-6th Grade Classes
It is my belief that all students should contribute to creating the rules and guidelines for the classroom. I wish to foster an environment where not only can learning occur easily, but also all students feel respected and confident of the expectations I have for them. Therefore, at the beginning of the year my classroom writes a Classroom Contract, where all students and myself must sign to agree on the chart paper. The Contract will be seen hanging all year for reference and as a visual reminder of their agreement.
I believe a central aspect of effective classroom management is building community, which is best done through restorative practices. I have been trained on the use of restorative practices, discipline, and classroom circles through many hours of professional development and reading. The use of classroom circles beginning the day is essential for my classroom flowing smoothly, students maintaining positive relationships, and creating an environment which focuses on self-efficacy and regulation.
